Entry 4 : Critical Reflection on Learning in the Course
There were two objectives that I had set for myself at the start of the course.
The first is to improve my communication ability with others and being able to take the initiative. The second is to become a better listener to others to avoid any miscommunication.
For my first objective, I had started to take note of my own body posture when communicating with others. I had made sure that I avoid slouching or looking somewhere else when talking to others. With this the other party would be able to tell that I am giving them my full attention and not come off as rude. I still have trouble taking the initiative for things, I believe I should work on building up my confidence and try taking up a leadership role. This would help me change for the better.
The first step to communication is being able to understand each other which ties in to my second objective, to be a better listener. As a individual, each of us has a different perspective of how things are. Once I was left with a task from my producer in my Game project, however the instructions were pretty vague. Instead of going with my own interpretation of what he wanted, I went and clarify matters with him, only to find out that what I interpreted was wrong. When in doubt, clarify matter with the other party to see if we are on the same page, this was what I started doing more often lately. Thanks to it, I have avoided doing double work.
I hope to be able fully utilize what I learned in this course even after I have moved on to the industry,

Nico, I have noticed that you are standing more upright when presenting. Keep it up. Try to also articulate your thoughts and opinions more - others will love to hear more from you.
